Later this year, India is scheduled to play a crucial Test series against the hosts Australia. However, which is further subjected to the situation following the outbreak of the deadly virus. The Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma is very much excited about this upcoming Test series. He feels that it is going to be a different series due to the presence of Steven Smith and David Warner.
In the late of this year, India will tour in Australia. Apart from the three-match T20I series, three-match ODI series, and of course the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020, India will also play a Test series against the hosts. According to the present plan, Australia-India will play a four-match Test series in this period which will also be the part of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (2019-21).
Though coronavirus has forced to stop the game at the present moment, many still believe that India tour of Australia 2020/21 can run successfully. Rohit Sharma is very excited for the upcoming Australia tour.
India last time toured in Australia in 2018/19 summer where India first time won the bilateral Test and ODI series in that country. Though India won that four-match Test series by the 2-1 margin, the two great Australia batsmen David Warner and Steven Smith were not present at that time due to their suspension period for involving in the ball-tampering incident during the 2018 Cape Town Test.
Rohit, who was also a member during the historic Test series victory in Australia in 2018/19 summer, believes that Test series will be different in the upcoming season due to the presence of Smith and Warner.
Rohit told India Today during the E-Conclave 2020, “It will be a great Test series. I know, Australia in their own backyard with those 2 guys back will be a different ball game. As a team, us, we are playing our best cricket. We have got our bowlers and batters in the right frame of mind. We are quite looking forward to that series. If it happens, it will be a great series to be part of.”

Rohit missed out the Test series in the last New Zealand tour due to the calf injury which he got during the final game of the five-match T20I series in that same tour. The Indian opener is now focusing on the upcoming Test challenge in Australia.
Rohit added, “New Zealand, as well, I was quite looking forward to playing in challenging conditions. Unfortunately, the injury happened. I can’t wait to go out and test myself in Australia and play the Test matches.”
The no.1-ranked Test team India lost the two-match Test series in New Zealand by the 2-0 margin.
