While the future of IPL 2020 is seriously doubtful due to the COVID-19 or coronavirus outbreak, Indian limited-overs vice-captain and Mumbai Indians’ (MI) captain Rohit Sharma is still hopeful about this tournament.

The IPL 2020 was initially scheduled from 29th March to 24th May 2020. But the novel coronavirus has forced to postpone the tournament. Not only India, but the entire world is also fighting against coronavirus. While the coronavirus cases are on rise, the death reports are also increasing globally due to this issue.

Initially, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the IPL 2020 till 15th April 2020, especially taking in the mind of visa issues. But as there is no improvement in the current situation globally, the future of IPL 2020 is totally under the dark cloud.

At present, like many affected countries, India is going through the complete lockdown period, which will remain till 14th April 2020.

The BCCI has come up with some plans to organise the IPL 2020 successfully, but they can’t go forward about it until the global situation comes under control.

Recently, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has claimed that he has no clue about the future of IPL 2020.

Recently, Rohit was involved in a live chat with the former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen where he shared his latest view about IPL 2020. Pietersen asked him whether the IPL 2020 would happen or not.

Rohit replied, “At some stage, when things settle down, it might happen, who knows.”

Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) will participate in the IPL 2020 as the defending champions.

The Mumbai franchise is the most successful team in the IPL history as they have won it for four times.
