Rohit Sharma Suffers Injury Scare Ahead Of Pink-Ball Test – Watch Video
India opener Rohit Sharma suffered an injury scare two days before the historic pink-ball Test match at Eden Gardens. The 32-year-old was practising slip catching with other players when he failed to grab one of the catches, which went on to hit him on his hand. Rohit was also attended by team’s doctor Nitin Patel, indicating that he did suffer some issues.
Rohit later came out to bat during the net session and team India will be hoping that there the issue is not a big one. Rohit would himself want to get fit in time as it will be the first time that India will be playing a Test match with a pink ball and none of the players would want to miss the historic occasion. If Rohit sits out, then Shubman Gill will be handed his debut Test cap. He was selected as a backup to Rohit and Mayank Agarwal ahead of South Africa series and is waiting for his debut since then. India have now stopped the policy of releasing players from the squad and Gill, along with others, will continue to be part of the preparations for the Test.
The day-night Test kicks off on November 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After much reluctance, India finally decided to change their stand by opting to play pink-ball Test. It will also be the first pink-ball Test for Bangladesh.
Cricket Association of Bengal has left no stone unturned to make the Test a historic occasion. Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will also be in attendance on day 1 of the match.
Meanwhile, the Indian selectors are set to name the squads for West Indies ODIs and T20Is today. Rohit will likely get some rest and he might not be part of the ODI series. In his absence, Mayank Agarwal might make it to the side but is unlikely to make his debut as KL Rahul will back in the playing XI as an opener.
