Rohit Sharma Becomes Third Fastest to Complete 9000 ODI Runs
On Sunday, Team India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma reached another great milestone during the Bengaluru ODI against Australia. The right-handed batsman has completed 9,000 ODI runs, and eventually became the third-fastest batsman to reach this milestone.
Before this series decider game, the limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma was just four runs away to complete 9,000 ODI runs. Coming to bat in the second innings of the Bengaluru ODI, the opening batsman reached this landmark in the very first over of that innings.
The hosts India bowled first in this Bengaluru ODI as the Australian captain Aaron Finch decided to bat first after winning the toss. With the help of the century from Steven Smith (131) and another solid half-century from Marnus Labuschagne (54), the visitors managed the first innings total of 286 for nine (50 overs).
Rohit Sharma completed 9,000 ODI runs in 217 innings
While chasing the target of 287, Rohit completed his 9,000 ODI runs on the second ball of that innings. He became the 20th batsman and seventh Indian cricketer to score 9,000 ODI runs. While he took 217 ODI innings to achieve this feat, he became the third-fastest batsman to complete 9,000 ODI runs.
Indian captain Virat Kohli is the fastest man in this list as he completed 9,000 ODI runs in just 194 innings. Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers is at the second position in the fastest list of 9,000 ODI runs. The former Proteas captain took 205 ODI innings to reach the same milestone.

The Bengaluru ODI will decide the fate of this three-match ODI series between the hosts India and the visitors Australia. Before this last game of this series, both teams won one each in this series.
