Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has revealed that Yuvraj Singh wished that he broke Virender Sehwag’s then highest individual ODI score. On Monday, Ravichandran Ashwin and India’s white-ball vice-captain went live on Instagram and had a candid chat on their past innings.
The off-spinner Ashwin asked Rohit to share his experience of scoring his first double hundred in ODIs. Then, Rohit disclosed the dressing room story after he scored 209 against Australia in 2013 in the final ODI match of the series. He said that some players, including the sixer king, expected him to score more runs to break Sehwag’s old record.
The expectation in the dressing room is really high: Rohit Sharma

“When I went back after scoring the double century, someone was telling me that if you would have batted another over or so you would have broken Virender Sehwag’s record also,” Rohit said.
“The expectation in the dressing room is really high. There were three or four guys who wanted me (Rohit) to score 10 or 15 more runs, Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) was one of them and maybe Shikhar Dhawan too,” jokingly recalled Rohit during the Instagram live session with Ashwin.
Rohit Sharma has played a quintessential role for India:

Sehwag had set the then highest individual ODI score of 219 runs in 2011 against West Indies in Indore. He had surpassed the record of Sachin Tendulkar of unbeaten 200 runs against South Africa in 2010.
However, Soon, Rohit Sharma broke Sehwag’s record, scoring 264 runs against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in 2014. After this knock, he held the highest individual record in ODIs in cricket history. He is also the only player in the world to have three double tons to his name in ODI cricket.
In the normal circumstances, Rohit would be leading Mumbai Indians to their fifth title win, but the global pandemic has halted all the entertainment. As of now, the Indian Premier League has been postponed indefinitely.
