The legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has heaped praise on teenage sensation like Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill. He stressed such prospective should relish the time as they’re fresh to the national fold.

It’s important to point out that Shaw has led India Under-19 Indian team in World Cup Triumph in New Zealand. He has earned accolades from Tendulkar for his significant approach, so as, Gill.
“Shubman also played a crucial role in last year’s U-19 World Cup and has had a good domestic season, so both of them (Prthivi and Shubman) have a lot of potential. Having said that, these boys have just started playing for India, and they should enjoy their cricket,” Tendulkar told ToI.

The right-handed Gill has made the entry into the limited-overs squad following his remarkable show in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season. He amassed 728 runs for Punjab in nine innings at the highly-impressive batting average of 104.
In 2018 U-19 World Cup, the right-handed Punjab-based batsman Gill bagged the Man of the Series for smashing a solitary ton and attributed it with three half-centuries. Meanwhile, Shaw amassed 261 runs in five outings.
Earlier, the 19-year-old Shaw made his Test debut against the Windies in October 2018, before Gill claimed his maiden ODI cap against the Black Caps which the Men in Blue won by the scoreline of 4-1.
In two Tests, Shaw is averaging at 118. 50 after scoring 237 runs and he went on to slam a ton and a solitary half-century.
Eventually, Shaw became youngest (18 years and 329 days) as an Indian to slam a century on his debut. Also, he’s second overall batsman after Tendulkar (17 years and 107 days) to record a Test ton.
Besides, with Virat Kohli at the helm, the team management has reposed faith in quality youngsters. They’ve stepped up to deliver according to the expectations.
The Mumbaikar also revealed he discussed with Shaw while maintaining he knew the potential batsman had enough in him to make it to the top-flight cricket.
“I’ve spoken about Prithvi earlier as well, having watched him bat in the nets as a little boy, all of 8-9 years of age. He had something special even back then. I knew instantly that he would play for India,” Tendulkar concluded.
However, Shaw’s dream tour to Australia ended on a sad note. He twisted his ankle during a practice game in Sydney against Cricket Australia XI.
