Sourav Ganguly joins the MCL (Masters Champions League), which is going to start in early February 2016. MCL CEO Zarah Shah announces today that Sourav Ganguly is joining this league as an icon.

Masters Champion League was launched in Dubai on 3rd June in this year. It is a Twenty-20 Cricket League tournament which will consist with 6 teams in the inaugural year and 90 players are taking participation in this league. This is a league for the retired cricketers including some cricketers who never played the T-20 cricket. In October of this year, ICC approved this league.

Ganguly never played T-20 cricket for the national side, but he used to play regularly in the IPL (Indian Premier League) for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Pune Warriors. Ganguly’s highest score in the T-20 cricket is 91. Ganguly also played in the Cricket All-Stars Series in the USA for the Sachin’s Blasters’ team in this November, where he notched a terrific half-century.

Previously, Brian Lara, Adam Gilchrist, Wasim Akram, Jacques Kallis etc had signed as icon players in this league.

The league will begin with single-leg round-robin system. The top four teams will qualify in the semi-final; the two winners of the semi-finals will meet each other in the final for the trophy. The matches will be held in UAE.
