Narendra Modi Can Ruin the Relationship of India And Pakistan: Shahid Afridi
The cricket world is dearly missing the international bilateral series between India and Pakistan. Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has opened up his thought about the future possibilities of India-Pakistan cricket match.
India-Pakistan match is one of the most awaited cricket matches in international cricket. Due to the high political tensions between the two countries, India and Pakistan are not playing the bilateral cricket series since early 2013. India last time travelled in Pakistan for the international cricket in 2008.
Moreover, India and Pakistan met last time in Test cricket in December 2007 at Bengaluru.
Pakistan players also can’t participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Apart from the inaugural IPL edition in 2008, Pakistan players haven’t been permitted to participate in this tournament.
Since early 2013, India and Pakistan are meeting in international cricket only during the ICC or ACC tournaments. As India and Pakistan are rarely meeting in international cricket, the recent India-Pakistan matches in the big tournaments are getting huge responses.
On the present condition of the India-Pakistan international cricket, there are different opinions among the cricket experts and former cricketers of these two cricket nations. Recently, Afridi has revealed his thought on this matter.
I think we will not get a response from India until Modi is in power: Shahid Afridi
Afridi has blamed the present Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ruined cricketing ties between India and Pakistan. He feels that they will not get any response from India on this international cricket matter until Modi is at the helm.
In a recent interview, Shahid Afridi said, “I think we will not get a response from India until Modi is in power. We have all understood his mindset now. His mindset can only take you towards negativity. That one man can ruin the relationship of the two countries which the people on both sides are against.”
Pakistan is currently hosting the entire PSL 2020 at four different venues. Recently, in the early stage of this tournament, especially the Lahore fans have wished to see Team India playing bilateral series in Pakistan.
Last time, India faced Pakistan in international cricket during the league stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 (at Manchester on 16th June). India won that match by 89 runs (DLS method).
