Indian captain Virat Kohli and Australian cricketer Steven Smith are the superstar players in this generation. The legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne has recently picked between Kohli and Smith.

For a long time, Virat Kohli is performing well in every cricket format. In the present time, his batting consistently breaks the long-time reputed records in international cricket. Currently, he is the no.2-ranked Test batsman and no.1-ranked ODI batsman.

Meanwhile, Steven Smith has recently regained the no.1 ranking of the Test batting after overpowering the previous no.1-ranked Test batsman Kohli.

Since March 2018, Smith had spent one-year suspension from cricket due to his involvement in the sandpaper gate incident. During the Ashes 2019, Smith made his Test return after 16 months. However, the former Aussie captain has once again shown his class and this time it is more lethal.

After batting four innings in the ongoing Ashes 2019, Smith has scored 589 runs with an average of 147.25. In this tournament, the right-handed batsman has played the innings of 144, 142, 92 and 211 runs respectively.

Shane Warne feels that it is very tough to pick one between Virat Kohli and Steven Smith. Warne believes that Smith can be the best Test batsman, but Kohli is the best batsman in all formats.

Warne has recently told IANS, “As far as Test cricket goes, I would probably say it is a really tough one between Virat and Smith. But I think if I had to pick one batsman in Test cricket, it would be Smith, but if I lost that and had Virat, I would still be happy because he is a legend.

“I think Virat is the best batsman in the world. I think if I had to pick one batsman across all formats, it would have to be Virat.”

Warner said, “Yes, I think Sachin’s records are in danger and it is like anyone else who has a record. With me having 708 Test wickets, I was asked the question if I think Nathan Lyon can get me, I hope he does because that will mean that he has played well for a long period of time. It is the same with Sachin. I believe if you ask him if he wants Virat to break his records, he would say absolutely. It will be great fun to watch. Look out Sachin, Virat is coming for you.”

Warne further added that Virat Kohli would break all the records.

The former Aussie leg-spinner added, “I think he will break all records and I am a big fan of how he goes about his job and I have said that publicly as well. I think Virat in all forms of the game is the best batsman in the world.”

While Virat Kohli is known as one of the greatest batsmen in international cricket history, many have criticised his captaincy quality. However, Shane Warne has also praised Kohli’s captaincy quality. Warne feels that Kohli is getting better tactically with the time progress.
