ToggleServing for Delhi Capitals (DC), the veteran Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan created history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday (20th October) evening as he became the first batsman to score two consecutive centuries in this tournament history.
It was the 38th match of the IPL 2020 between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai). Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer chose to bat first after winning the toss. At the end of the first innings of that match, while Delhi Capitals scored 164/5, the 34-year-old Shikhar Dhawan scored 106 not out off 61 balls (12 fours and 3 sixes).
It was the second T20 century for Dhawan. In his previous match, which was the 34th match of the IPL 2020 where Delhi Capitals played against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Sharjah on last Saturday (17th October) evening, Dhawan recorded his maiden T20 century by scoring match-winning 101 not out off 58 balls (14 fours and only six).

In the meantime, Shikhar Dhawan also became the second Indian batsman to score more than one century in an IPL season. Virat Kohli was the first Indian to score more than one century in an IPL season as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain smashed the record of four centuries in the IPL 2016. In overall, Dhawan became the fifth batsman to hit more than one century in an IPL season.
