Stressing on the need of gentle parenting, Indian cricket stars Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa have condemned a video that has been doing the rounds on social media, showing a child being scolded and beaten by her parent, as she tried to memorise the numbers.
The heartbreaking video shows the sobbing little child repeating numbers 1 to 5 several times and her mistake is being dealt with a harsh reaction from her guardian. The video further shows the crying girl pleading the lady for a break while claiming she has a headache, but it was of no use as the parent forced to revise continuously. The video received strong reactions across the social media, and the Indian cricketers have also joined the bandwagon.
Dhawan, a father of three, urged the parents to be patient with the kids before advising them to refrain from beating their children.
“I request parents to be patient with ur kids at all times. Every child learns at his own pace. Pls refrain from beating/degrading them,” the India opener tweeted.

Uthappa also echoed Dhawan’s sentiments and called the video ‘heart-wrenching’ before stating that children shouldn’t be raised in that way.
“This is heart-wrenching. Children shouldn’t be raised this way. This needs to stop. I pray we can raise our kids with love instead of fear,” the Kolkata Knight Riders star tweeted.
