Former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has appreciated Wahab Riaz’s decision to make a comeback in the Test cricket. Riaz has made himself available for England’s Tour where they will play three-match Test and T20I series in August and September respectively.

Riaz was dropped from Pakistan Cricket Board‘s (PCB) central contract this year, reportedly, for quitting Test cricket last year. He last played red-ball cricket in October 2018 since then he was under sabbatical from the extended format.

Well, now, after he has decided to make a comeback in Test cricket, Shoaib Akhtar hopes of a good show in the upcoming tour of England. He took to Twitter to praise the pacers decision.

“Really appreciate your decision Wahab Riaz to make yourself available for Test cricket. Keeping Pakistan first. You will do well in English conditions InshAllah,” Akhtar wrote on Twitter.

The 34-year-old Wahab Riaz responded to Akhtar’s post and replied: “Means a lot coming from you, chief.”

In the recent interaction, Riaz expressed that he was excited to play against England as there would be new challenges because of changes in rule in the wake of coronavirus.

“I am very excited to be a part of this England tour as you know this tour is being carried on in very unusual circumstances,” Wahab said in a video conference as per ESPNcricinfo.

“I was called by the PCB to enquire if I am available to play Test cricket if required on a replacement basis. I straightaway said yes because my priority ultimately is to play for Pakistan.”

Overall, twenty-nine players and 14 staff members will tour to the UK where they will follow 14 days quarantine.

Meanwhile, Riaz, who has played 89 ODIs, 27 Tests and 31 T20Is, is the leading wicket-taker for the team in white-ball format. In total, he has notched up 228 wickets so far.
