DAVID MURRAY:
The son of Windies cricketing legend Sir Everton Weekes, the one to reach 1000 runs the fastest in Test cricket, was a fantastic keeper himself who could play more than the 19 tests and 10 ODIs that he played. At the early age of 12, he got addicted to cigarettes, which went on to getting addicted to marijuana and cocaine. He was soon replaced by Jeff Dujon, after which he decided to go on a rebel tour to South Africa. This tour cost him a lifetime ban. He was later found peddling drugs for his living. He is among the cricketers who have created a lot of controversy due to his habits.
The life of a sportsman is hard with challenges and obstacles. But seeing how some real talents lost their way to the addiction, it seems like it’s better to find rejoice in other ways of recreation.
