Yuvraj Singh made his international debut under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, and the latter wished the all-rounder on a phenomenal career. Yuvraj announced his retirement from international cricket and IPL earlier today. He has been one of the finest cricketers of all time in the white-ball format.

Ganguly was authoritative: Yuvraj

The southpaw has represented India in 40 Test matches, 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is. His artistic batting, extra-ordinary fielding and effective bowling helped India lift the 2011 World Cup. He was equally good in the World T20 2007 that saw India clinch the title in the inaugural season.

Yuvraj said he enjoyed the most playing under Ganguly. The fact that Ganguly fought for his players, made the Indian team a strong unit. “Sourav Ganguly was very authoritative when it came to fighting for his players. He wanted certain players that he should back to build a team. Players like myself, Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Virender Sehwag. He built us guys together” he said.
