Indian team is getting ready to play the three-match home T20I series against West Indies. Ahead of this series, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has revealed that he has some thoughts for the preparation for the next year’s T20 World Cup which he will share soon with the captain, coach and team management. The former Indian captain is confident that India will be ready ahead of the next ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The fifth-ranked Indian team is ready to face the 10th-ranked West Indies team in the upcoming T20I series, starting from 6th December. It is going to be the last T20I assignment for both sides this year. The Indian team is currently in a great form, and as the host nation, they are the clear favourite in this series against the struggling Caribbean side.
Like the other formats, the Indian T20I side is also in good form, but they are not very consistent yet. In this year, the Indian team has played 13 T20Is where they have won seven games and lost six matches.
While India have very great records in the recent T20I chasing, they are struggling to win the T20Is when they are batting first. In this year, India have lost four T20Is where they batted first and won only two matches after batting first. On the other hand, at batting second in this year’s T20Is, India have successfully chased in five games and only failed to chase successfully in two games. Sourav Ganguly has pointed out this issue.
Sourav Ganguly recently claimed, “If we are chasing very well in T20 cricket. We need to do the same when batting first. I have some thoughts which I will share with Virat, Ravi and the management. We haven’t played many T20 internationals and I am confident by the World Cup we will be absolutely ready.”
Australia will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 from 18th October to 15th November 2020.
We have the team to do well in NZ and again in Australia – Sourav Ganguly about the Indian Test side
Since October 2016, India are consistently holding the no.1 position in the ICC Test team rankings. Early, in this year, India won their first-ever Test series in Australia.
In upcoming February, India will play the two-match Test series against the hosts New Zealand. Later, in the next summer, India will play another four-match Test series against the hosts Australia. Sourav Ganguly believes that the present Indian Test team can achieve success in both these crucial away series.
Ganguly quoted, “That’s the ultimate ambition. We have done well in Australia last year. We have the team to do well in NZ and again in Australia. That’s what our aim is at the worlds best Test team.”
