Highest no.of innings played by a batsman in a calendar year – On 4th day of the fifth Test between India and England (5-match Test series) at Chennai, England opening batsman Alastair Cook played his 33rd Test innings in 2016. It is the highest no.of Test innings played by a batsman in a calendar year. The previous record holder was Sunil Gavaskar who had played 32 Test innings in 1983. However, Joe Root also played 32 Test innings in this year.
