Highest no. of sixes by a batsman in Test cricket – On day 1 of the 2nd Test between New Zealand and Australia (2-match Test series) at Christchurch, New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum became the batsman to his most sixes in Test cricket surpassing the previous record of Adam Gilchrist’s (Australia) 100 Test sixes, McCullum ended Test career with 107 sixes.

McCullum began that Test match with 100 Test sixes and he surpassed Gilchrist after hitting the first six of the match of Mitchell Marsh. That Test was Brendon McCullum’s last Test match.

Fastest Test century (by balls faced) – On the same day of the same Test match, New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum also became the fastest Test centurion (by balls faced) by completing the century in just 54 balls. The previous fastest Test century (by ball faced) record holder was Sir Viv Richards (West Indies) and Misbah-ul-Haq (Pakistan) who had completed his Test century off just 56 balls against England at St John’s in 1986.
