Sri Lanka is in trouble after their lower-order batting collapse on the day one of the second Test at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha (Nagpur).
Sri Lanka decided to bat first after winning the toss. They were bowled out for just 205 runs.
In reply, India was on 11/1 at the stumps where they were trailing by 194 runs.

- During the day one, Sri Lankan opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratne (1,000) completed 1,000 Test runs in 2017. He is the second batsman to achieve this feat in 2017. South African opener Dean Elgar (1,097 runs) was the first man to complete 1,000 Test runs in 2017.

Also, Dimuth Karunaratne became the only second Sri Lankan opener to score 1,000 or more Test runs in a calendar year. Sanath Jayasuriya was the first Sri Lankan opener to achieve this feat who had done that twice in his career, and those were in the years of 1997 (1,209 runs) & 2004 (1,125 runs)
