India and Sri Lanka are known to frequently play against each other. Both of these teams generally play with each other every year. Sri Lanka is once again on the India tour and they will play three-match T20I series. The first T20I will take place at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on January 5 and the visitors had arrived in the city on Thursday.

In the 59 matches played between the two sides since 2008 across all tournaments, India has managed to win 44 games whereas Sri Lanka has won only 10 matches. However, Sri Lanka has won big matches like the T20 World Cup 2014 final and the league match of the Champions Trophy 2017.
But it has been one-way traffic in the bilateral series between the two teams. The last time Sri Lanka was able to savor success against India was when Anil Kumle-led side had toured the island nation for the three-match ODI series back in 2008.

In fact, the Indian team has won all the last seven ODI series against Sri Lanka since Virat Kohli debut. In T20Is, India has managed to win five out of the last six series against Sri Lanka. One series ended in a stalemate back in 2009. Furthermore, Sri Lanka is yet to defeat India in a T20I series.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli loves batting against Sri Lanka as the Indian captain has 3507 international runs, including 13 hundred and 17 fifties, at an average of 66.16 against Sri Lanka. In T20Is, Kohli has scored 283 runs in just 4 matches at an average of 94.33.
