  1. Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha hit two sixes in the 1st innings. It was the jointly most no. of sixes hit in a Test innings by an Indian batsman against New Zealand. MS Dhoni had also hit two sixes in a Test innings against New Zealand for twice (both were in the same Test at Bangalore in 2012).

 

  1. Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled very well on the day 2. At the stumps on day 2, his bowling figure was 10-0-33-5. It was Bhuvneshwar’s 1st 5-wicket haul in a home Test innings. Overall, it was Bhuvneshwar’s 4th 5-wicket haul in a Test innings.

Also, Bhuvneshwar is the third Indian pacer to claim a 5-wicket haul in a home Test innings against New Zealand. Before Bhuvneshwar, Javagal Srinath (6/45 at Mohali in 1999) and Ramakant Desai (6/56 at Mumbai, Brabourne Stadium in 1965) were the other two Indian pacers who had claimed 5-wicket hauls in a home Test innings against New Zealand.
