After a loss against Zimbabwe in the first T20I of 3-T20I match series, India made a great comeback in the T20I series with a big victory against Zimbabwe in second T20I match at Harare.
After winning the toss, Zimbabwe decided to bat first. During the first innings, Zimbabwean batsmen continuously struggled in the front of Indian bowlers. Zimbabwe only managed to score 99/9 in 20 overs. In reply, India chased down that total very easily in 13.1 overs without losing any wickets. India won the match by 10 wickets with 41 balls to spare.
With this win, India leveled the T20I series with 1-1. It means that the last T20I match will be series decider which will be played on Wednesday (22nd June 2016).
Some of the statistical highlights of the match are given below:
- Indian left-arm pacer Barinder Sran made T20I debut in this match and bowled superbly in this match. Sran ended with an impressive bowling figure of 4-0-10-4, which was the second best by a debutant bowling figure in T20I history. The best bowling figures by a debutant were 4-1-13-5 by Bangladesh left-arm spinner Elias Sunny against Ireland at Belfast on 18th July 2012.
Also, Sran’s bowling figure were the second best bowling figures by an Indian bowler in T20I history. The best T20I bowling figures by an Indian bowler were 4-1-8-4 by Ravichandran Ashwin against Sri Lanka at Visakhapatnam on 14th February 2016.
- Debutant Indian pacer Barinder Sran also took 3 wickets in an over (without hat-trick) in this match. It was the second time in T20I history that an Indian bowler picked up 3 wickets in an over. Ashok Dinda was first Indian bowler to pick up 3 wickets in an over and he did that against Sri Lanka at Pallekele on 7th August 2012.
- In this match, Zimbabwe managed only 99/9 in 20 overs. It was Zimbabwe’s third lowest total in their T20I history.
Also, it was Zimbabwe’s second lowest total in their T20I history after batting complete 20 overs.
- Indian opening batsmen, KL Rahul and Mandeep Singh put a hundred run partnership (103*) in this match and took their team to a comfortable victory. It was the second time in T20I history that Indian openers put hundred runs partnership.
- India won the match by 10 wickets with 41 balls to spare. It was the first time that India won a T20I match by 10 wickets. Also, it was the 13th time in T20I history that a team won by 10 wickets.
On the other hand, it was the third time in T20I history that Zimbabwe lost by 10 wickets in a T20I match.
6. It was India’s second best T20I victory in the second innings (41 balls). The best performance for India in this list was winning a match with 59 balls remaining against UAE at Dhaka on 3rd March 2016 (won by 9 wickets).
