New Zealand clinched the 3-match ODI series against Australia after beating them by 24 runs on Sunday at Hamilton.

New Zealand decided to bat first after winning the toss. New Zealand put 281/9 on the board after 50 overs.

In reply, Australia were bundled out for 257 runs in 47 overs. New Zealand won the 3rd ODI by 24-runs and with that won the 3-match ODI series by 2-0.

Earlier, New Zealand narrowly won the first ODI of this series by just 6 runs while the second ODI was washed out due to rain.

  1. New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor hit a brilliant century in this ODI as he scored 107 runs. It is the 2nd highest individual score by a New Zealand batsman against Australia in the 1st innings of an ODI match. Former New Zealand batsman Chris Harris is at the top of this list with 130 runs innings (at Chennai on 11th March 1996). Taylor also became the 2nd batsman to score 14 ODI hundreds while batting at No. 4 or lower in the middle-order. Before this, India’s Yuvraj Singh was second in the list with 13 hundreds. 

 

  1. New Zealand put 281/9 on the board at the end of 50 overs. It is New Zealand’s 3rd highest ODI total at Seddon Park, Hamilton. New Zealand’s top two ODI totals at this ground are 350/9 against Australia (20th February 2007) and 290/7 against Bangladesh (13th March 2015).

Also, it (281/9) is the highest 1st innings ODI total for New Zealand at Seddon Park, Hamilton. Their previous best was 280/6 against Sri Lanka on 29th March 1995.

 

  1. New Zealand left-arm pacer Trent Boult bowled impressive in this match as his bowling figures were 10-1-33-6. It is the 5th best ODI bowling figures for New Zealand against all teams and also the 2nd best ODI bowling figure for New Zealand against Australia. The best ODI bowling figure by a New Zealand bowler against Australia is 6/23 by Shane Bond (10-2-23-6) at Port Elizabeth on 11th March 2003.

Also, this bowling figures (6/33) is the best ODI bowling figures by a left-arm New Zealand bowler. 5/7 was the previous best which was achieved by left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori (6-2-7-5) against Bangladesh at Queenstown on 31st December 2007.

 

  1. Chasing down the target, Australia were bowled out for 257 runs. It was Australia’s third highest 2nd innings ODI total on New Zealand soil as well as it was also 2nd highest completed ODI innings for Australia on New Zealand soil. Australia’s highest completed ODI innings score on New Zealand soil is 280 in the 1st ODI of this series.

 

  1. Total 3 Australian batsmen (Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell and James Faulkner) scored ducks in this ODI. It is the first time when more than 2 Australian batsmen scored ducks in an ODI innings against New Zealand.

 

  1. Total 23 extras were conceded by New Zealand bowlers during Australia’s innings in this ODI. It is the joint highest no. of extras conceded by New Zealand bowlers in an ODI innings against Australia. Before this, New Zealand bowlers had also conceded 23 extras against Australia at Christchurch on 4th March 1990.
