Want to be a professional cricketer?
England’s premier bowler Stuart Broad has joined the bandwagon of the current and former cricketers, who have had put forth their prediction regarding the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Interestingly, he has picked three Lions’ Tests skipper Joe Root to become the leading run-getter during the twelfth edition of the ODI showpiece. Thus, according to the lanky pacer Root could bag the Golden Bat.
The 32-year-old Nottingham-based Broad, who himself has snared 178 wickets in 121 ODIs at an average of 30.13, has often praised Root’s consistency at the top.
Root – a key to England’s World Cup hopes:
The 28-year-old top-order batsman Root has done exceedingly well for England over the years.
Root, who has a terrific road in the ODI cricket, has accumulated 5,097 runs at an average of 50.5 in 127 matches. Since, 2012, Root has represented England in 80 Tests and 31 T20Is.
Meanwhile, England is set to face Pakistan in the limited-overs series which will commence from May 5. Earlier, England has beaten Ireland in one-off ODI.
Besides, they will take on the Men in Green in one-off Twenty20 International and five One-day Internationals.
Hosts hungry for a home chance:
Even though a poor show at the 2015 World Cup, England has made a strong return under the dynamic leadership of Eoin Morgan. Now, they’re leading the ICC ODI Rankings following sheer consistency in the recent past.
Interestingly, since 1975, England has made it to the three World Cup finals. However, this time around they are optimistic about making things count for themselves. Well, given to their batting depth, the Three Lions have availed a decent bowling department to challenge opponents at their den.
Besides, Broad in response to the ICC’s World Cup Twitter handle, revealed that Root would lead the run charts.
