The 33-year-old veteran Indian cricketer Suresh Raina recently highly praised the young Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. Raina feels that Pant has a quality future and he can be utilised properly if the teammates look after him.

The 22-year-old Rishabh Pant made his international debut at the very early age of 19-year-old.

In the initial period of his international career, Pant performed strongly with the bat. He even hit two Test centuries outside Asia. But when he became the first-choice keeper, the youngster disappointed with his inconsistent performances.

However, Suresh Raina has a strong faith in this young wicketkeeper-batsman. Calling him as a gun player, Raina feels that Pant can be a quality player in the future if the teammates guide him properly.

Raina recently said in the Star Sports’ chat show Cricket Connected, “I think Rishabh Pant has been amazing. He has scored a lot of runs for the country as well as in the IPL and in domestic cricket. He has got two Test hundreds. He played really well in T20s as well as ODIs. I think he is a gun player, he has a quality future. He needs to be really looked after by his teammates. And then you will see lot of great performances coming from him very soon.”

After his T20I debut in February 2017, Rishabh Pant has played 13 Tests, 16 ODIs and 28 T20Is. The left-handed batsman has scored 814 Test runs (average 38.76), 374 ODI runs (average 26.71) and 410 T20I runs (average 20.50).

The long-time Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Suresh Raina is in touch with his CSK teammates as the skipper MS Dhoni and pacer Deepak Chahar have also started their preparation. All these three players are out of the game for a long time.

Raina continued, “I have been speaking to a lot of the players, everything has been planned. Deepak Chahar has been playing and MS Dhoni is also training hard at his home. Everyone has to do it because this game requires lot of fitness, lot of commitment.”

Due to the coronavirus pandemic in India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the 13th edition of the IPL from 19th September to 10th November 2020.
