Indian batsman Suresh Raina has once again lashed out at the previous panel of the selectors, which was led by MSK Prasad. Raina had recently said that there was no kind of communication from the selectors on where he needed to improve after getting dropped from the side. The Uttar Pradesh batsman had added he was not selected despite clearing the fitness Test.
Meanwhile, Suresh Raina praised former selectors Dilip Vengsarkar and Kiran More. Raina stated that they always communicated with the players when they were dropped from the national side. The southpaw batsman believes that the selectors should tell the weaknesses of the players, face to face so that they can improve their game accordingly.
There should communication between the player and the selector, says Suresh Raina
“I feel somewhere communication should have happened, I’ve been saying that. Senior players have supported me, the selector isn’t in my hands. There have been many great selectors, Dilip Vengsarkar supported the players, Kiran More sir, there were many good selectors who used to communicate with players, be it a junior or senior. A selector has a right to tell face to face, I would prefer that because I’ve learnt it from my father and MS Dhoni. You say it on my face, if there’s a problem, I will solve it,” Suresh Raina said while talking to Boria Muzumdar on Fan Code.
Meanwhile, former chief selector MSK Prasad had recently said Raina was out of form in the domestic circuit and thus he was dropped from the side. In fact, Raina might not have done justice in the ODI format but he had shown good form in the T20Is.
The Uttar Pradesh batsman scored 314 runs in nine matches at an impressive average of 39.25 and a blistering strike rate of 146.04 in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018 and thus he was selected for the England tour. But Raina could not hold his place in the side and he was dropped for the Australia tour.
Suresh Raina is not impressed.
Raina feels that the selectors should be more professional in their approach. The southpaw batsman added that it hurts when are dropped with no kind of communication or message after serving your country.
“Virat told me to improve my fitness, I did it, that’s why he made me play. Rohit always knew my talent. I don’t have any problem with any player, but as a selector, they should be more professional. I am not targetting anyone, I am just saying that sometimes you give so much to the country, you work so hard, stay away from the family, I personally think we should get answers to these questions,” said the left-hander.
Not only Suresh Raina but also players like Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan have also lashed out at the previous panel of selection. Raina will play for Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming IPL, if it happens and he would like to prove his mettle.
