Suresh Raina retired following his former captain MS Dhoni’s retirement which shocked the nation on Independence Day 2020. MS Dhoni who led India from 2007 to 2016 across all formats was India’s most successful test captain so far with 27 wins.

But he had more success with the Indian team in a limited-overs format where he was so far the only captain in the world to win all the three major trophies of ICC-T20 World Cup in 2007, 50 overs World Cup in 2011, and Champions Trophy in 2013.

Suresh Raina, on the other hand, has not been as successful as MS Dhoni but has done his best by being Indias only player to score a century in all three formats. He played his last ODI and T20I in 2018 and the last Test in 2015.

But he should not have retired at the age of 33 when most people continue to perform playing for India. MS Dhoni himself is aged 39 and so contemplated retirement. Although he played last ODI and T20I in 2018, he could have waited for getting an opportunity again.
