Royal Challengers Bangalore against Gujarat Lions at Bengaluru on 14th May 2016
It was a historic match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history which was a league stage game during the IPL 2016. After the Gujarat Lions (GL) won the toss, they sent the hosts Royals Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to bat first.
While the RCB opener Chris Gayle (6) was dismissed very early, another opener and skipper Virat Kohli handled the early pressure situation impressively along with his great friend AB de Villiers. While they set up the record-breaking 229 runs partnership for the second wicket, both of them smashed incredible centuries.
Skipper Kohli scored 109 runs off 55 balls (5 fours and eight sixes) while De Villiers was not out on 129 runs off 52 balls (10 fours and 12 sixes).
While the RCB scored 248/3 (20 overs), GL only managed to score 104 runs before losing their all wickets in 18.4 overs.
