Once again the victim side, which was here Sri Lanka, won the toss and chose to field first. Opener Glenn Maxwell almost single-handedly took the major responsibility to guide the Australian team to then record T20I total, which was 263/3 (20 overs).
Maxwell not only completed his T20I century in 49 balls, but he also remained not out on 145 runs off just 65 balls with the help of 14 fours and nine sixes. While his opening partner and skipper David Warner scored 28 runs, Usman Khawaja scored 36 runs and Travis Head was dismissed on the final ball of that innings after scoring 45 runs off just 18 balls.
In reply, Sri Lanka scored 178/9 (20 overs) as Australia beat the hosts by 85 runs.
