While the 38-year-old Raman Lamba was busy in fielding at the short leg during a club match in Bangladesh in 1998, Mehrab Hossain’s shot hit on his head. It was the match between Abahani Samsad and Mohammedan Sporting where Lamba was serving for Abahani Samsad. The former Indian international cricketer didn’t wear a helmet during his short period of fielding at the short leg.

Initially, Lamba was seen fine but he faced an internal haemorrhage. Later, he went in a coma and after three days of that incident, he died.

From 1986 to 1989, Raman Lamba played four Tests and 32 ODIs for India.
