- Stump
Stump is also a very common term of world cricket. It is used for the following occasions in cricket:
a) One of the three vertical posts making up the wicket is known as a stump. A wicket has three stumps along with two bails and the stumps are known as “off stump”, “middle stump” and “leg stump”.

b) Stump is also one kind of dismissal in cricket. When a batsman is outside his crease but has not attempted a run and the wicket-keeper dislodges the bails from the striking end wicket, that dismissal is known as Stump.

c) When a match runs more than one day, the end of a day’s play (when the match remains incomplete) is also known as stumps.
