a) ‘V’ is an assuming area for a batsman. V is referred to the area between mid-off and mid-on, which looks like a V-shaped from the batsman’s eye. In this area, shots are generally played with a straight bat, which is generally the safest shot in cricket.
b) The joint between the lower end of the handle and the blade of the bat, is also known as V due to the ‘V’ like shape. It is also known as Splice and it is the weakest part of a bat.
