The IPL 2019 is ready to begin very soon. Like every year, this year also many cricketers are very close to achieve some special records. One of those is the first Indian to hit 200 IPL sixes.
In IPL history, MS Dhoni has hit the most number of sixes as an Indian batsman. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, as well as the wicketkeeper-batsman, has hit 186 sixes in 158 IPL innings. He is in the closest position to become the first Indian to hit 200 IPL sixes.

However, his CSK teammate Suresh Raina and Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma are very close to him in this competition. Suresh Raina has hit 185 IPL sixes in 172 innings while Rohit Sharma has hit 184 sixes in 168 IPL innings. One of them can easily become the first Indian cricketer to hit 200 IPL sixes.


The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli is also not very far away from 200 IPL sixes. In his 155 IPL innings, the right-handed batsman has hit 177 sixes.

In IPL history, only Chris Gayle has hit 200+ sixes. In fact, he is very close to becoming the first batsman to hit 300 IPL sixes. The left-handed Caribbean batsman has hit 292 sixes in 111 IPL innings, which is an incredible record.

Meanwhile, the former South African captain AB de Villiers is in the second position in the most IPL sixes list. He has hit 187 sixes in 129 IPL matches. It means that AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma are closely competing to become the second batsman to hit 200 IPL sixes.

IPL 2019 will begin on 23rd March
IPL 2019 will be the 12th edition of the tournament. The new season will start on 23rd March when CSK and RCB will meet at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai). Awaiting the general elections’ dates, the committee has only announced the first 17 matches’ dates of IPL 2019 which is till 5th April.
As recently the general elections’ dates have come out, the entire IPL 2019 fixture is now expected to be released soon.
