The 2011 World Cup-winning hero had played a pivotal role for India during his career. The southpaw had represented India between 2003 and 2013.
He had featured in 147 ODIs to amass 5238 runs at an average of 39.7. He had slammed 11 hundreds and 34 half-centuries.
In 2005, Gambhir had slammed a fine hundred against Sri Lanka. After becoming a regular feature across formats for Team India, Gambhir had played an imperative role.
The left-handed batsman had produced some scintillating knocks.
In the 2011 World Cup, Gambhir slammed 97-run knock which he also considers the best.
Following a dip in his form, he couldn’t make a return in the 50-over format.
