Mayank has struggled on India A tour so far but with no other options available, selectors might be forced to recall Mayank. He just managed 130 runs in the five matches List A matches for India A and failed to open his account in the first unofficial Test match. But since the team will need a replacement, they might recall Mayank.

An uncapped in this format, Mayank earned his maiden ODI call-up as Vijay Shankar’s replacement at World Cup 2019. He was recalled as Shikhar Dhawan’s replacement for the ODI series against West Indies but was dropped again. Mayank was pipped by Prithvi Shaw for a place in ODIs after Dhawan was ruled out but an injury to Rohit can see him join the ODI squad.
