Samson leads the race to replace Dhawan in the T20I squad. In no case, the team management would want India A players to leave the series mid-way but there could be a case when he might join the team after finishing India A assignment.

He was dropped from the T20I squad for the New Zealand tour but was added to India A squad that play five-match series against New Zealand A. Samson played the first practice match but manged four runs. Since being recalled, he has only played one T20I so far.
