Australia’s Test skipper Tim Paine took a subtle dig at Indian captain Virat Kohli. The Australian summer is known to kick off at Brisbane and Australia mostly plays the opening match of their home series at the Gabba. However, it wasn’t to be the case when India had last toured Down Under in 2018 as they had played their opening match at Adelaide.
Tim Paine said that he would like to take Virat Kohli’s permission if they can play the first Test match at Brisbane. Furthermore, Paine added if Kohli is in a good mood, they might also ask him to play a pink-ball Test match in Australia.

“Yeah, well, we’ll be certainly trying. We’ll have to run that by Virat,” Paine said. “We’ll get an answer from him at some stage I’m sure.”
This “is where we like to start our summer, and it has been for a long, long time except for last summer,” Paine said. “So as I said, we’ll ask Virat. See if we can get his permission to play here.
“And maybe even get a pink-ball test if he’s in a good mood.”
Pink-ball Test match between India and Australia?
Meanwhile, BCCI had rejected Cricket Australia’s request to play a Day-Night Test in Australia in 2018. Recently, Kohli confirmed that they wanted to play a pink-ball Test in their own conditions first to get acclimatize to the ball.

India played their maiden Pink-ball Test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens and won the same by an innings and 46 runs. This is India’s seventh consecutive win, which is their longest streak in the multi-day format. Furthermore, India became the first team to register four straight innings win.
On the other hand, Australia also continued its domination at Brisbane against Pakistan. Tim Paine-led side won the first Test by an innings and five runs. Marnus Labuschagne was awarded the Man of the match for scoring 185 runs. Meanwhile, it is reported that there might be a pink-ball Test between India and Australia in 2020.
