9. Sanath Jayasuriya: 4377 runs
The former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya made 4377 runs in 117 matches as captain from 1999 to 2003. Jayasuriya led Sri Lanka to the knock-out stage of the 2003 cricket world cup, but stepped down from the captaincy after the loss to Australia in the semi-final.. This included 10 centuries and 25 fifties.
Under his captaincy, Sri Lanka won the managed to share the 2002 Champions trophy with India.
