The 2015 Freedom Trophy was played between India and South Africa in India. India won the four-match Test series by 3-0 and ended Protease’s 9 years long-run of unbeaten away series. This series was totally dominated by the bowlers. It was a very low-scoring tournament.
There are four Indian batsmen in this list while just AB de Villiers was the only South African in this list.
South African batsmen were never looking comfortable against Indian bowlers, despite their good performances in the limited-over format at earlier. They didn’t get a clue till the end against the Indian bowlers. That’s why just one player is in the “top-5 most run scorer list” from the South African team.
Here is the list
Top 5 most run scorer in 2015 Freedom Trophy:
Ajinkya Rahane (266 runs in 6 innings): – This Indian right-hander batsman ends on the top in the most runs scorer table. He showed his terrific class and temperament, especially in the last match. He is the only batsman to score a century in the series and he made it twice at the both innings in the last Test match. He became fifth Indian batsmen to score a century in the both innings of a Test match. The pitch was not looking good for the batsmen and Rahane saved his team in the both innings from the deep troubles. He also got man of the match award in the last match for his excellent performance.

AB de Villiers (258 runs in 7 innings):- AB de Villiers is the only South African batsman who manages to sit in the top 5 batsmen list of this Test series. While other South African batsmen were failed in this series, AB de Villiers was the only player who put some fight against Indian bowlers. He made 2 fifties in this series and finished only 8 runs behind from Ajinkya Rahane. The second innings of the last Test match was remarkable for him. He faced 297 balls and scored just 43 runs and came very close to a memorable draw in that match, which he was not successful at the end.

Murali Vijay (210 runs in 7 innings): – Murali Vijay guided very well to the Indian team. The Indian right-hander opener hit a fifty and gave some crucial start to the Indian team. He scored 75 runs at the first innings in the Mohali Test (1st match) and missed another half-century for just 3 runs at the 2nd innings in the same match.

Cheteshwar Pujara (202 runs in 6 innings): – Pujara started well in this Test series. He hit a fifty (77) at the 2nd innings of the first Test, which was also his only half-century knock in the series. Every innings he began very well but failed to capitalized those into the big score.

Virat Kohli (200 runs in 6 innings): – It quite similar as Pujara’s performance. Virat looked better in the last match at the both innings, while the home team was in the pressure and critical situation. He should need to be more conscious about his shot selection. Virat hit just one fifty in this series at the last innings of the final Test match.
