It was India’s first game in the Asia Cup 2014 where Virat Kohli was leading the Indian team. After the Indian team sent the Bangladesh team to bat first, Bangladesh team scored 279/7 (50 overs), thanks to their skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (117) and opener Anamul Haque (77).

In reply, while the Indian openers were dismissed after setting up the 50 runs partnership, skipper Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane handled the next situation very well and built up the 213 runs partnership for the third wicket. Before losing his wicket, Kohli scored 136 runs off 122 balls (16 fours and 2 sixes). While Rahane was dismissed on 73 runs, India successfully reached the target in 49 overs after losing four wickets.
