Shoaib Malik (Pakistan) – 143 against India at Colombo (RPS) on 25th July 2004

It was the match between India and Pakistan in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2004. After Pakistan decided to bat first, the no.3 batsman Shoaib Malik played a very important role for his national team who came to bat at the end of the first over, after the dismissal of opener Imran Nazir (1).
Malik put some useful partnerships with another opener Yasir Hameed (103 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket), skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq (66 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket), Mohammad Yousuf (63 runs partnership for the 4th wicket) and Abdul Razzaq (43 runs partnership for the 5th wicket).
Malik scored 143 runs off 127 balls (18 fours and only six) before Sachin Tendulkar dismissed him in the 46th over of that innings.
After Pakistan managed to score 300/9 (50 overs) in the first innings, India were restricted to 241/8 (50 overs) in the second innings.
