It was a crucial match in the Asia Cup 2012. After Pakistan decided to bat first, they scored 329/6 (50 overs), majorly thanks to their openers Mohammad Hafeez (105) and Nasir Jamshed (112) and no.4 batsman Younis Khan’s firing fifty (52).

In reply, India lost their opener Gautam Gambhir (0) in the second ball of the first over. However, the chasing master Virat Kohli showed his true calibre on that night and guided the team to the victory with his great batting performance. He set up the two back-to-back big partnerships in that innings – 133 runs partnership with another opener Sachin Tendulkar (2nd wicket) and 172 runs partnership with Rohit Sharma (3rd wicket).

When India were just 12 runs short from the victory, Kohli was dismissed on 183 runs off 148 balls (22 fours and only six). India finally reached the big target in 47.5 overs after losing four wickets.
