Former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara had one of the safest hands behind the stumps. His smart wicket-keeping attitude provided great memories for the cricket fans.

While Kumar Sangakkara made many brilliant wicket-keeping performances, this is one of his special catch as a wicketkeeper. Kumar Sangakkara took this catch in the big stage, in the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup. It was the Super Eights stage match between England and Sri Lanka at North Sound on 5th April 2007.

While Sri Lanka set the first innings total of 235 runs, England lost their first wicket in the very early stage of their chasing, due to Kumar Sangakkara’s brilliance. Coming up to the stumps, Sangakkara brilliantly took the widish catch to dismiss the English opener and captain Michael Vaughan. Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Chaminda Vaas delivered a widish ball down the leg where Vaughan provided a thick edge and Sangakkara grabbed that brilliantly. While England was battling on 1/1, Vaughan returned to the dressing room without opening his account.
