Recently, the 37-year-old tall Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Irfan has claimed that he believes he ended the career of former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir. The Indian social media users are bashing Irfan for that comment.

Gautam Gambhir was one of the most successful opening batsmen for India. He played international cricket from 2003 to 2016. In last December, Gambhir retired from cricket.

He was one of the heroes in Indian cricket history as he played many glorious innings. Gambhir played match-winning knocks during the final of ICC World T20 2007 and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Mohammad Irfan hasn’t a rich international career

Recently, the 7’1″ tall Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Irfan told the ‘Samaa’ channel that the Indian players felt uncomfortable to face him during the 2012/13 limited-overs bilateral series. It was the last bilateral series between India and Pakistan which India organised. While the two-match T20I series had the 1-1 result, Pakistan won the three-match ODI series by 2-1.

Mohammad Irfan further claimed that Gautam Gambhir didn’t want to face him or making eye contact during that series. He believes that he ended Gambhir’s career during that series.

After that Pakistan tour of India, struggling Gambhir played only five ODIs and four Tests before his retirement. Though Gambhir tried to make his comeback for the national team, he widely failed to achieve success on his mission.

However, the tall left-arm pacer Mohammad Irfan hasn’t enjoyed his international career for a long time. He has played four Tests, 60 ODIs and 20 T20Is where he took 10, 83 and 15 wickets respectively. While he made his international debut in September 2010, he played the last international game in September 2016.

During Pakistan tour of India 2012/13, Irfan made his T20I debut. In that two-match T20I series, Irfan only took one wicket. Also, in the three-match ODI series, the tall pacer picked up three wickets. In that tour, Irfan dismissed Gambhir twice, both in ODIs.
