South Africa’s captain Faf du Plessis hasn’t had the rub of the green on his side at the toss time. du Plessis lost the toss for the nine consecutive Tests while playing in Asia. In fact, Faf du Plessis had given a wry smile when he had lost the toss in the opening Test match at Visakhapatnam. Furthermore, the Proteas captain once again had no luck at the toss in the second Test at Pune.
Meanwhile, Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. The toss plays a key role in Test matches and mostly the captain winning the toss elects to bat first in Indian conditions. As it is difficult to bat on the final day pitch, it makes sense to opt to bat first.
On the other hand, India has had a good start to the second Test match. The hosts’ are currently 115-1 and Mayank Agarwal scored his fourth Test fifty. Cheteshwar Pujara is also batting unbeaten on 30 runs.
However, India’s first match hero Rohit Sharma could not get going as the stylish batsman was dismissed for 15 runs by Kagiso Rabada. The right-hander could not handle the extra bounce and edged the ball to Quinton de Kock.
Meanwhile, India had taken a 1-0 lead after winning the first Test match by a gargantuan margin of 203 runs. Rohit Sharma was the star of the show for the Indian team as he scored twin centuries. The right-hander scored 176 runs in the first innings and scored another fine knock of 127 in the second dig.
