Instances When More Than Two Captains Led A Side In A Bilateral ODI Series 1

In India’s tour of Sri Lanka in 2017 – three different players led Sri Lanka in a five-match ODI series

It is the latest incident when more than two different players lead a side in a bilateral ODI series. In the recently ended 5-match ODI series between the hosts Sri Lanka and the visiting team India, three different players led the home side.

Upul Tharanga led the Sri Lankan team for the first two games, but he got suspended for the next two games due to the slow over-rate. Chamara Kapugedera took the leadership role in the 3rd ODI, but after that match, he ruled out from the remaining series due to a back injury. Lasith Malinga led the side for the fourth ODI while Upul Tharanga made a comeback into this action in the fifth ODI.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli led the Indian side in all ODIs of that series.
