Australia tour of West Indies in 1983/84 – 3 different players lead West Indies in a 4-match ODI series

It was the first time when more than two different players led a side in a bilateral ODI series. It was the 4-match ODI series between the hosts West Indies and visiting team Australia.

Kim Hughes led the Australian side in all four games while three different players led the Caribbean side in that four-match ODI series.

Sir Viv Richards was the leader in the first game while Clive Lloyd took the leadership role in the second ODI. Later, Michael Holding was the skipper in the third ODI while Sir Viv Richards returned to the captaincy duty in the 4th ODI.

 

1st ODI (at Albion; 29th February 1984): Sir Viv Richards led the West Indies side (Kim Hughes led the Australian team) – West Indies won by eight wickets
