Indian limited-over captain MS Dhoni finished in his style against Australia in their do or die match in WT20 2016, though the real hero of the match was Virat Kohli.
India was playing against Australia at Mohali in the crucial Super 10 stage (Group 2) match of WT20 2016. It was the must win game for both teams. After winning the toss, Australia decided to bat first. After putting a good start, Australia managed to score 160/6 in 20 overs.
In reply, Indian batsmen were struggling against the Australian bowlers. After Yuvraj Singh dismissal, India needed 67 runs in 36 balls with 6 wickets in hands and MS Dhoni joined in the crease to give company to the set batsman Virat Kohli, who was batting at 35 runs.
After that, Virat Kohli totally took the responsibility to chase the total successfully while Dhoni supported him very well on the pitch. Kohli played an extra-ordinary knock of unbeaten 82 runs and made the total comfortable for India at the end.
In the last over, Indian team was required only 4 runs and 6 wickets still in hands while Dhoni was on strike with unbeaten 14 runs. James Faulkner came to bowl in the last over for Australia. In the very first ball of that over, Dhoni smashed a full-toss ball from Faulkner to the wide long-on boundary for four. Dhoni finished the match with five balls to spare as India qualified for the semi-final in WT20 2016.
Though Dhoni finished the game, but that was not put any scratch on Kohli’s tremendous contribution. Kohli received the man of the match award without any competition.
