Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018: Suresh Raina Hits Three Consecutive Half-Centuries
Discarded India opener Suresh Raina has shown good form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy to make a statement to the national selectors.
Meanwhile, Raina, who is leading the Uttar Pradesh has now struck three back to back centuries. Although Uttar Pradesh have had a pale run through the tournament, Suresh Raina has impressed. They find themselves in the 14th place in the Elite Group A & B with only one win from seven games.

The southpaw made a comeback to the Indian team during the South Africa series and made some useful contribution. However, he had a paltry run during the limited-overs series against England and subsequently missed the Asia Cup.
However, Suresh Raina has aimed the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy to make a return to the national side. India have some crucial limited-overs series lined up in the coming few years. They play five ODIs and three T20Is after the two-match Test series. Following that, they play Australia in three T20Is and three ODIs each which will be a real test of character for Virat Kohli & Co.
In a bid to do so, he has worked hard on his game and gaining rewards now in the domestic 50-overs ODI tournament. Suresh Raina has now scored back to back fifties presenting his case to the selectors, who are due to pick the limited-overs squad for the Windies series.

However, Suresh Raina started his campaign on a bad note but got going against Hyderabad. But he showed some hint of returning to form against Hyderabad smashing 52 runs, however, couldn’t prevent his team from losing. He continued with another half-century against Kerala in an exciting encounter. Despite his valiant efforts, Uttar Pradesh lost the match by one run.
Furthermore, in the ongoing encounter against Andhra, he made useful contributions of 52 runs as Uttar Pradesh posted a mammoth total of 330 runs at the halfway mark.
This will certainly give him the much-needed confidence and an alert to the selectors ahead of the team selection for the Windies series.
