After making History with Karnatka team, Vinay Kumar has determined to move to Puducherry team. Vinay, popularly known as Davangere Express, has led many victories for Karnataka in Ranji Trophy. He was the captain for Karnataka for two continuous years 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 and lifted the Ranji trophy both year.

“It has been a great journey with Karnataka cricket. It is high time for me to give a chance to youngsters. I remember that Venkatesh Prasad made way for me when I came into the side as a 21-year-old. It is now time for me to do the same. I can definitely play for a few more years for Karnataka looking at my cricket and my fitness, but I’m looking at the bigger picture,” Vinay said.

Vinay Kumar made his debut for Karnataka in 2004-2005 Ranji season and has played 106 Ranji Trophy matches for the state. He has mastered in picking up the wicket. He has picked 459 wickets in 130 first-class matches with a bowling average of 23.53. After his debut, he quickly became the lead seamer.

He knows his strength and generates a decent pace and took wickets with ease. His performance in 2007-2008 Ranji season put him in the eye of everyone and was called for IPL by Royal Challenger Banglore (RCB). Vinay Kumar showed much better performance in 2009-2010 Ranji season and placed Karnataka in finals by picking 46 wickets in the season.

And this ensured his place in Indian national Cricket team for T20 World Cup in 2010. He made his Test debut in 2011/2012 Perth Test match against Australia as a replacement for the injured Varun Aaron and picked up only one wicket after giving away 73 runs.

Vinay Kumar has won seven Ranji titles for Karnataka but his last performance in Ranji Season demolished his own set standard record by only picking 14 wickets from seven matches. He was replaced by Manish Pandey as captain in the midway of the season.

Vinay will be remembered for his 15-year long career for Karnataka. His contribution will be remembered for making Karnatka gain his spot as a fighter.

The 35-year-old with his sensible bowling technique will make Puducherry a tough fighter.
