Jofra Archer Can Be Rested For Three-Match ODI Series Against India

Jofra Archer could be rested for the forthcoming three-match ODI series against India. The England team management is likely to take a call on the same following the conclusion of the fifth and final T20I between the two teams on Saturday.

Earlier, Jofra Archer missed the last fourth Test against India due to an elbow injury and there were question marks over his participation in the five-match T20I series as well. But the Barbados-born cricketer has recovered well enough to play in all four T20Is thus far.

Jofra Archer Is Leading Wicket Taker In T20I Series And Will Play In 5th Deciding T20I As Well

He is the leading wicket-taker in the series with seven scalps to his name and is expected to feature in the fifth T20I as well. Although Jofra Archer showed no signs of discomfort in the ongoing T20I series, the England team management isn’t in favor of overburdening him. Since the Ashes and the T20 World Cup are scheduled to be played this year, the England team management doesn’t want to take any chances with the ace pacer.

Resting Jofra Archer could also provide the other England fast bowlers like Reece Topley, Jake Ball, David Willey an opportunity to play in Indian conditions. The next T20 and ODI World Cups will be played in India.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are yet to announce their squad for the three-match ODI series. The three ODIs will be played on March 23, March 26, and March 28 respectively at the Maharastra Cricket Association Stadium in stringent biosecure bubbles in Pune.

Rajasthan Royals Could Benefit If Jofra Archer Is Rested For 3 ODI Series

Steve Smith, Akash Singh, Anirudha Joshi, Ankit Rajpoot, Oshane Thomas, Shashank Singh, Tom Curran, and Varun Aaron were released by the franchisee ahead of the next IPL edition. Rajasthan Royals have bought Chris Morris who became the most expensive buy ever in the history of IPL besides acquiring Shivam Dube, Mustafizur Rahman, Liam Livingstone, and several domestic uncapped Indian players.

Ishan Kishan breathed fire with the bat scoring a 94-ball 173 for Jharkhand against Madhya Pradesh on the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 campaign.

Ishan Kishan Who Plays For Mumbai Indians Scores 173 En Route To His 4th List A Ton As Jharkhand Amass 422 Runs

The opening day of the season saw Jharkhand battle it out against Madhya Pradesh at the Holkar stadium. Although it was a one-day contest, Jharkhand skipper Ishan Kishan batted in T20 mode, going all guns blazing, slamming a brilliant 173 off just 94 balls.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy became the second domestic tournament to have been scheduled in 2021 but it came at the cost of the Ranji Trophy which had to be suspended due to the pandemic for the first time in 70 years.

Ishan Kishan, who features for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was sent to bat first by Madhya Pradesh skipper Parth Sahani who chose to field after winning the toss. Ishan Kishan opened the innings alongside Utkarsh Singh but lost his partner early in the innings after which Kumar Kishagra batted in the middle but couldn’t pace the innings.

Taking matters into his own hands, Ishan Kishan started to hit boundaries from one end and kept the scoreboard ticking. Kumar Kushagra was also dismissed for 26 of 45 balls, paving way for Virat Singh to enter the field.

Virat Singh and Ishan Kishan then produced a phenomenal partnership, of 117 runs before the latter was dismissed by Gaurav Yadav. Virat Singh held onto his wicket for a while and helped Jharkhand take the score past 300 runs inside 40 overs as they accumulated 422/9 in stipulated 50 overs before reducing Madhya Pradesh to 74/5 in 10 overs with pacer Varun Aaron picking 4 scalps

Ishan Kishan scored his fourth List A century with 11 sixes and 19 fours, reaching the 3-digit mark in just 74 balls. His IPL franchise Mumbai Indians also took to Twitter to hail the southpaw’s heroics with the bat.

Ishan Kishan Performed Well In IPL 2020 Too

Ishan Kishan was one of the finest performers for 5-time winners champions Mumbai Indians in the 13th edition of the IPL. He scored a total of 516 runs in just 14 innings at an average of 57.33. A lot of the same will be expected of him this time around.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy also acts as a preparatory platform for quite a few cricketers ahead of the much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign. The quarter-finals of the tournament will be played on March 8 and 9 respectively and the semi-final will be on March 11. The final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 will be on March 14. The IPL, on the other hand, is expected to begin in the second week of April.

In other matches, Gurkeerat Singh Mann who went unsold after being released by RCB scored 139 off 121 balls with 14 boundaries and 7 sixes to help Punjab score 288/4 against Tamil Nadu. Vidharva’s Faiz Fazal and Yash Rathod scored tons to help the side score 331/6.

Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan could make their India debuts in the T20I series at home against England. The former scored 480 runs in 16 games averaging 40 while also notching up 424 runs and 512 runs in the previous two editions. Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, scored 516 runs averaging 57.33 in 14 games and hit the maximum number of sixes-30 in IPL 2020.

IPL 2020: Virender Sehwag Calls Rajasthan Royals One-Man Bowling Attack

Virender Sehwag, the former Indian dashing opening batsman, said that Rajasthan Royals seem to be a one-person attack in their bowling department with everyone apart from England pacer Jofra Archer failing to perform. Jofra Archer has been Rajasthan Royals’ best bowler in IPL 2020 and has picked 17 wickets in 13 matches averaging 18.82.

Rajasthan Royals face Kings XI Punjab in a must-win game on Friday. They have another game after this which will be against KKR on Sunday. Six teams are still in the competition for the 3 available playoff spots.

Jofra Archer Works Hard But Others Are Struggling: Virender Sehwag

Mumbai Indians became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2020 Play-offs after Kolkata Knight Riders lost on Thursday to MS Dhoni’s CSK which still leaves six teams fighting for the other 3 spots.

Rajasthan Royals will take on the Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi on Friday. With two games left for Steve Smith’s men against KXIP and KKR, they are in a do-or-die situation as a loss in any of the two games will knock them out of IPL 2020.

Looking at the composition of their team, former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag was of the opinion that it would be tough for them to beat KL Rahul’s KXIP on Friday who has won five consecutive matches.

The Rajasthan Royals bowling is where the team really seems to be lacking, according to the swashbuckling batsman. He said that Rajasthan is a one-person attack with Jofra Archer bowling extremely well and said that he needs to be supported and backed up by the others if RR have to win their next two matches.

“The Rajasthan Royals bowlers are struggling. It is just a one-man attack. Jofra Archer works hard to gather dot balls and wickets, but [Ankit] Rajpoot and [Karthik] Tyagi carelessly give boundaries away.

“By the way, didn’t Rajasthan also get Varun Aaron to the UAE? He bowls at 140 kmph regularly. Are you saving him to invest in mutual funds? Abu Dhabi is a quick wicket and he could be useful over there,” Sehwag said in his usual humorous fashion.

Varun Aaron has gone wicketless while the trio of Jaydev Unadkat, Ankit Rajpoot have been expensive too. Kartik Tyagi has picked up seven wickets in nine games but has conceded more than 9.41 runs per over.

Steve Smith Has To Figure Out His Batting Position: Virender Sehwag

He also added that finally the batting seems to be clicking for the team, but was critical of skipper Steve Smith constantly changing his batting position.

“The Rajasthan batting has begun to look good, but one cannot understand what Steve Smith is trying to do about his batting position. He’s opening sometimes, playing at No. 3 at times, and has also played at No. 4 and No. 5. Is it a batting order or a buffet that everything needs to be tried.”

Steven Smith

“It would be better to send Jos Buttler at the top. It’s almost as if you have a canon with you but you are making do with a water pistol,” Sehwag said in his characteristic style.

Steve Smith, the captain of Rajasthan Royals, has scored 276 runs in 13 matches averaging a shade over 25 with three fifties beside his name which is ordinary since he averages overall over 35 which he maintained all time except IPL 2020. He has a solitary hundred and 11 fifties.

In the match against KXIP, Varun Aaron, Jofra Archer and Kartik Tyagi are the pacers while Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia are the spinners in the starting XI.

Kartik Tyagi, Jaydev Unadkat, Ankit Rajpoot Have Played A Good Supporting Role To Jofra Archer – Varun Aaron

Rajasthan Royals pacer Varun Aaron, who has, so far, featured in only one match in the ongoing IPL 2020, stated that the Indian pacer trio- Kartik Tyagi, Jaydev Unadkat and Ankit Rajpoot- have done well in supporting Jofra Archer, who is the leading wicket-taker for the side.

The young pacer Kartik Tyagi got the opportunity in the second half of the tournament after Jaydev Unadkat and Varun Aaron had proved expensive. He has featured in eight matches and has snared seven wickets while Unadkat has picked up four wickets in seven matches at the poor economy rate of 9.91. Ankit Rajpoot, the medium Pacer, has also not been able to make much difference, picking 2 wickets in nine matches.

However, England pacer Jofra Archer has been the constant wicket-taker for RR. He has picked up 17 wickets in 12 matches at the economy rate of 6.71.

Varun Aaron believes that the overall performance of his side been good, but he admits that at some occasion, they have not been up to scratch. He said that the Indian pacers have played a good supporting role to Jofra Archer.

“I think we have bowled well overall, this is T20 cricket and there are these patches wherein bowlers go for runs. I feel that our pacers have done well, certain things did not go our way where we were unlucky but I feel JD, Tyagi, and Rajpoot have done well in supporting Archer,” said Aaron in an official release issued by RR.

Varun Aaron hopes RR qualify for playoffs:

With two games left to play, Rajasthan Royals are lying at the second last position in the points table. Varun Aaron hopes that his team could be able to put the best show in both matches to secure the place in playoffs.

“The next two games are must win for us to be able to secure the playoffs berth and I am sure our team will put up the best show to be able to achieve that spot,” he added.

Rajasthan Royals will take on Kings XI Punjab on Friday (October 30) in Abu Dhabi.

IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals pacer Varun Aaron Says India Comeback ‘Still The Biggest Motivation’

Indian speedster Varun Aaron has said that he still hopes to make a comeback in Team India and winning the IPL will him in his cause. He last played in the Indian colours back in November 2015 and hasn’t earned a call-up since. The speedster had broken into the side after being heralded as the new Shaun Tait of India. He likewise, was unable to maintain his length and line and after making 9 appearances in Test and 9 in ODI disappeared off the scene.

Varun who bowls in the plus of 145 kmph, will play his second IPL season with Rajasthan Royals this term and is hoping to win the IPL and regaining his form to earn a call-up from India. He has previously represented  Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the IPL

I definitely fancy a chance of coming back, that’s still the biggest motivation: Varun Aaron

Varun Aaron still fancies a chance of making a comeback to Team India and that he reckons is his biggest motivation. He wants to help RR win the IPL this year and that he thinks it will open up a gateway of opportunity for them. The speedster also intends to not reduce his pace, which is one cause of his injury marred career and he tells he is the best shape of his life at the moment.

“I definitely fancy a chance of coming back, that’s still the biggest motivation. I see myself coming back. For starters, I need to help Royals win the trophy this year and a lot of roads will open up from there,”

‘‘I don’t intend to reduce my pace. Injuries are a part and parcel for a fast bowler’s career…it has taught me a lot of lessons about cricket and life. However, at this stage, I feel at the peak of my fitness again and feel really good that my pace hasn’t reduced at all,” Varun Aaron said in an interview with Gulf News.

Rajasthan Royals’ aim their Second IPL Title with new skipper Steve Smith

Rajasthan Royals had traded captain Ajinkya Rahane to Delhi capitals for this term and appointed Steve Smith as the leader, eyeing their second IPL Title. RR squad members including Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Tom Curran will travel to UAE on 17th September to join the squad. They are in England to play a bilateral series between Australia and England which will conclude on 16th September.

Varun Aaron Recalls Memorable Experiences In IPL

Varun Aaron is yet to taste much success while representing India but has gained experience while playing in the Indian Premier League which gives an opportunity to every fringe Indian player to contest with the celebrated cricketers of the world. A good performance in the IPL gives the selected player a chance to play for India.

The speedster Aaron has picked up 29 odd wickets from 18 internationals as he played in nine Tests and nine ODIs which is in contrast to his performance in IPL where he has picked 42 wickets from 47 matches. His bowling average is 31.79 which is moderately all right considering his averages 52.61 in Tests and 38.09 in ODIs.

Varun Aaron Picked Up To Play For Indian Team

The year 2014 was an impressive one when he picked up 16 wickets from 10 matches playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore following which he was drafted in the Test squad first against West Indies at home and then against England where he picked 5 wickets playing 2 Tests.

The sight of a bouncer striking Stuart Broad made more headlines than his performance and he soon faded out after playing two more tests that year and four more tests the next year.

Varun Aaron made his Test debut in 2011 against West Indies and played his last Test in 2015 against South Africa whereas in ODI he made his debut in 2011 against England and his last one came in 2014 against Sri Lanka. The 30-year-old right-arm pacer has got limited opportunities despite bowling at 145 kph almost regularly.

Varun Aaron’s Memorable Performances

For him, a particular dismissal of a legendary world-class batsman, however, stands apart. He remembers that as a youngster he had rattled the stumps of former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist.

“My favourite memory would be my first IPL wicket, Adam Gilchrist. I got him bowled and it was the middle-stump. I was 19 or 20 back then and to see the whole stadium go up suddenly was a massive high. I had never felt that before,” Aaron told Sportstar.

Despite playing 5 watches for 4 wickets, he had his share of memorable experiences. He remembers that he bowled well to Kolkata Knight Rider’s young prospect batsman Shubman Gill and opener Chris Lynn of KKR.

“I had a good moment last year too. I have been practising the knuckleball for a year-and-a-half or two. I had practised swing with the new ball. I came back in a match where Rajasthan Royals had to win against the Kolkata Knight Riders,” he said.

“Chris Lynn and Shubman Gill had opened the batting for KKR. I got Lynn bowled and I felt Gill might be suspect to a slower knuckleball of mine. It was perfect. It landed exactly where I wanted it to, it did exactly how much I wanted it to. It was just a great ball.”

Varun Aaron played for Kolkata Knight Riders from 2008 to 2010, Delhi Daredevils from 2011 to 2013, Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2014 to 2016, Kings XI Punjab in 2017,2018 and Rajasthan Royals in 2019.

Aaron picked up 18 wickets in nine Tests and 11 wickets in 9 ODIs.  Varun Aaron continued to play in IPL but still tried hard to be picked up by a franchise.

Five Indian Fast Bowlers Who Clocked 150 kmph On Speedometer

Five Indian fast bowlers who clocked 150 km/ph on speedometer The Indian fast bowler is like a diamond as they come occasionally in Indian cricket scenario, consistency is not their cup of tea. They took the world by surprise during their heydays. But, their lightning speed is not long-lasting injury, age, hot and humid climate never accompanied them to their wish.

Here are four Indian bowlers who clocked 150 km/ph mark, but forced to reduce their speed. Although, the current Indian team is blessed with genuine fast bowlers who can bowl fast consistently.

Varun Aaron Against ‘No Saliva or Sweat On The Ball’ Post COVID-19

The topic which is bowling up in cricket is the legalising of ball-tampering post-COVID-19. ICC is just considering using artificial materials on the ball instead of saliva and sweat, which can spread the virus. Cricket Australia (CA) has put into order of no use or saliva and sweat though ICC has still not taken any particular call on this. In this regard, Rajasthan Royals’ pacer Varun Aaron kept his view.

Players use saliva and sweat to shine the ball which helps in swinging the ball, which is legal in ICC’s rule but using outer material like sandpaper, bottle caps or vaseline is against the rules.

According to Varun, if bowlers will not use saliva, it will be unfair as the batsman will be in the advantage of the situation. He said that the Test matches will become one-sided affair and fast bowlers will not get help.

“100%, that’s a no brainer. More in the Tests than in the T20s or one-dayers because anyways the Kookaburra ball doesn’t do much after the first four or five overs in an ideal scenario.”

“In Test cricket, movement is something that every (fast) bowler heavily relies on to get the batsman out, otherwise there won’t be any difference between white-ball and red-ball cricket,” Aaron said.

I am just hoping it doesn’t happen: Varun Aaron

“I am sure the ICC will figure something to negate the losses (disadvantage) bowlers are going to face if they put the rule in place, but like all bowlers, I am just hoping it doesn’t happen.”

“If it (no saliva or sweat on the ball) has to happen, it will, because it’s something where somebody has to be really careful about,” said Aaron.

Former cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Ashish Nehra were also against the suggestion of using artificial substances to shine the ball. They strictly disagreed to the concept of not using saliva and sweat which are natural substances.

Five Moments When Indian Pacers Delivered Brutal Bouncers In International Cricket

As time progresses, batsmen have increased their domination in the cricket due to the improvement of equipment, including adding some safety guards. However, still, the pacers scare the batsmen with their fiery pace and bouncers. Despite the improvement of the helmet and some other equipment, the accurate fiery fast bowling, including the bouncers, can shake the batsmen easily if they fail to handle these deliveries properly.

In the last three decades, India has slowly but steadily introduced the fast bowlers in international cricket who have scared with their fast bowling skills.

Here we are talking about the five moments when the Indian pacers delivered the hurtful bouncers in international cricket

Javagal Srinath to Ricky Ponting

During the Melbourne Test in 1999/2000 summer (December 1999), Indian pacer Javagal Srinath‘s one furious delivery, which clocked 135.0 km/h, hit on Ricky Pointing‘s helmet. That hit shook Ponting who became angry and frustrated on Srinath. Soon after that incident, both the players were involved in little exchange of words. However, strong Ponting continued his batting after taking some times to handle that blow.
